We are seeking an experienced Database Administrator (DBA) to manage, optimize, secure, and maintain enterprise-grade relational and spatial database environments. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in PostgreSQL/PostGIS, Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, or MongoDB, with extensive experience supporting mission-critical, high-availability databases on both on-premises and cloud platforms.
Essential Experience:
- Minimum 08 years of experience in database administration, performance tuning, and data security management
- Proven experience in PostgreSQL/PostGIS, Oracle, or SQL Server administrationin production environments
- Experience in backup, recovery, replication, and clustering for mission-critical databases.
- Familiarity with spatial databases and GIS data management.
- Experience managing cloud-based databases (AWS RDS, Azure SQL,
- Google Cloud SQL).
- Exposure to database scripting, automation, and DevOps workflows.
- Prior work in government or large-scale data environments involving multi-terabyte databases.
- Familiarity with data privacy, cybersecurity, and audit compliance frameworks.
- Relevant certifications must.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Install, configure, and maintain RDBMS and spatial databases such as PostgreSQL/PostGIS, Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, or MongoDB.
- Set up replication, clustering, partitioning, and high availability (HA) environments.
- Apply patches, version upgrades, and manage database migrations with minimal downtime.
- Manage database instances on on-premise servers and cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Monitor database performance and optimize queries, indexes, caching, and memory usage.
- Analyze query execution plans and recommend structural and indexing improvements.
- Perform regular database health checks, performance audits, and capacity planning.
- Work with application developers and GIS teams to tune SQL queries and spatial operations for faster response times
- Implement access control mechanisms, role-based privileges, and data encryption policies
- Establish and manage data backup, recovery, and replication strategies (e.g., pgBackRest, RMAN, Data Guard).
- Ensure disaster recovery and business continuity planning (BCP) for all mission-critical data systems.
- Perform regular restore drills and maintain detailed documentation of recovery procedures.
- Ensure data consistency, normalization, and compliance with organizational standards.
- Maintain metadata, logs, and audit trails for all databases.
- Implement and enforce data governance frameworks and database policies (naming conventions, indexing, archival).
- Manage schema design, table structures constraints, and relationships for both transactional and analytical systems.
- Administer spatial databases (PostGIS, Oracle Spatial) and manage vector, raster, and topology datasets.
- Support geospatial web services (WMS/WFS/WCS) through integration with GeoServer, MapServer, or ArcGIS Server.
- Optimize spatial queries, geometry indexing (GiST, QuadTree), and raster handling for GIS applications.
- Ensure interoperability between GIS and non-GIS databases through OGC-compliant standards.
- Deploy, monitor, and maintain cloud-hosted database instances (AWS RDS, Azure SQL, Google Cloud SQL).
- Work with DevOps teams to implement CI/CD pipelines, automated provisioning, and infrastructure-as-code (IaC) for database environments.
