We are seeking a SQL DB with 2-8 years of experience with very good experience on MSSQL Admin activities including Azure, always-on, database migration clustering, etc. You will play a critical role in maintaining and optimizing SQL Server databases, ensuring high availability, security, and performance.

- This role is required to work from customer place based out of Budigere Rd, opposite Prestige Tranquility, Bommenahalli, Bengaluru, Karnataka 560049
- This role can be worked remotely, but initial 4-6 weeks should be onsite/work from office

Below is an elaboration of the essential skills required:
1.Database Administration & Maintenance
- Installing, configuring, and managing MS SQL Server instances (versions 2012, 2016, 2019, and newer).
- Monitoring database health, capacity planning, and resource utilization (CPU, memory, disk I/O).
- Performing database backups and restores (Full, Differential, and Transaction Log backups).
- Managing database integrity and consistency using DBCC CHECKDB.
- Performing database cloning, migration, and refreshes across environments (Dev, QA, Prod).
2. Performance Tuning & Optimization (PTO)
- Query Performance Optimization (Execution Plans, Indexing strategies, Statistics updates).
- Index Management – Creating, maintaining, and tuning Indexes (Clustered, Non-Clustered, and Columnstore).
- Deadlock & Blocking Troubleshooting – Using SQL Profiler, Extended Events, and DMV queries.
- SQL Server Performance Monitoring Tools – Knowledge of PerfMon, DMVs, Activity Monitor, Query Store.
- Memory, CPU, and Disk Optimization – Ensuring efficient resource utilization.
3. High Availability (HA) & Disaster Recovery (DR)
- Managing and troubleshooting Failover Clusters, Always On Availability Groups, and Database Mirroring.
- Configuring and maintaining Log Shipping and Replication (Transactional, Merge, Snapshot).
- Implementing and testing Disaster Recovery (DR) plans with RPO (Recovery Point Objective) & RTO (Recovery Time Objective) considerations.
4. Security & Compliance
- Implementing User Authentication & Authorization (SQL Server Authentication & Active Directory Integration).
- Managing Roles & Permissions with GRANT, DENY, and REVOKE statements.
- Configuring Transparent Data Encryption (TDE) and data masking for security compliance.
- Auditing failed logins, privilege escalations, and suspicious database activities.
- Ensuring compliance with GDPR, HIPAA, PCI-DSS, and other data security policies.
5. Troubleshooting & Incident Management
- Diagnosing and resolving SQL Server errors, deadlocks, timeouts, and connection issues.
- Handling SQL Agent job failures, long-running queries, and blocking processes.
- Working with SQL Logs, Event Viewer, and Extended Events for debugging and root cause analysis.
- Responding to L1 escalations, prioritizing incidents, and ensuring minimal downtime.
6. Automation & Scripting
- Writing T-SQL scripts for maintenance tasks, automation, and reporting.
- Using PowerShell for SQL Server administration (Automating backups, monitoring, and deployments).
- Developing and maintaining Stored Procedures, Triggers, and Functions.
- Implementing SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) packages for ETL automation.
7. Patching & Upgrades
- Applying SQL Server Service Packs (SPs), Cumulative Updates (CUs), and hotfixes.
- Performing version upgrades with minimal downtime.
- Ensuring compatibility and regression testing after upgrades.
8. Collaboration & Documentation
- Working with application teams, developers, and IT infrastructure teams for database-related needs.
- Creating and maintaining SOPs, runbooks, and documentation for database operations.
- Providing knowledge transfer and mentoring L1 DBAs.
